There’s been a lot happening at TBRN in the past weeks and months. From updated automation to rebuilt phone systems, we’ve certainly been busy here. However, I’d like to take a brief opportunity to elaborate on some things, most notably the introduction of a new broadcaster.
On June 11, 2015, we got the news that a refugee from a dead Internet radio project would be joining TBRn. As a then outsider, I saw this as inevitable, a foregone conclusion, given her pre-existing friendships with many of our number. If you’d asked me, at that time, if I was going to be the one to announce her, I’d have laughed at you…Hell, at that time, I wasn’t even sure I would be on TBRN by year’s end. But here I am, and here she is, ready to debut her new show. Bacon Bits with Johanna Herranen, live from Helsinki, on Tuesdays at 12 PM Eastern. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Our 21st Century Schedule Page will calculate the time for you.
The Internet radio veterans might wonder something. Bacon Bits, not Random Keys? Yes, you heard me right. If you’ve ever talked to her, you know how well it fits. If you haven’t, you’re going to find out. A description, written by her and me, is on the schedule page. I’m going to add to that by saying that Bacon Bits as a show is really not a well-formed concept…But at the same time, it’s not supposed to be, either. Johanna isn’t exactly the type of person you want to box, so an abstract show with an abstract title makes sense. And hey…This is the same station that is successfully marketing a show so embarrassed that it refuses to give itself a name. Compared to that, the Internet equivalent of a fully loaded Bacon cheeseburger is down right tame. If this description makes you want to spontaneously combust with the sheer force of WTF, there’s really only one remedy; listening to the show. Tuesdays at 12 PM Eastern. Not in eastern? Let our schedule do the math where you live.
One final note before I make like a tree and get out of here…TBRN’s base time zone is US Eastern, and has been since its inception. At the same time, we have more European broadcasters now than in any time in our history. While most of our broadcasters appear to be ready and able to handle the early North American daylight saving time change, one broadcaster’s work schedule forces him not to do so. Thus, for the next few weeks, The Dj Box with Dj TT/Tor will begin at 1 PM Eastern, not 12. Tune in at said temporary time for your live mix of music…And yes, we really do mean mix. Whether it’s Tor, Johanna, Cam, or anyone else not mentioned in this post, we hope you enjoy your favorite shows on TBRN. A big thanks to you…and your ears…for doing so!
