Ebert3D v1.0 PR1 And "Hijack" Demo

Greetings,

Quinn here, with a few words on exciting happenings at EbertSoft, my little one-man software company...

On May 23rd, 2006, at 5:00PM GMT-5, I will be releasing the first public preview of Ebert3D V1.0, the first generation of my custom-made 3D gaming engine.

This release represents nearly 3 years of fudging with various and sundry crappy and inadquate solutions, and coming to the realization that, if you can't find what you need, you should just make what you need all by yourself.

This engine features:

- A custom "PSM" (Polygonal Spatial Map) level/model file format, aimed at quick and painless 3D content creation.

- Support for all major graphics file formats as texture sources through the ultra-robust DevIL image loading library.

- Hand-made "ZeFyre" AI Engine, which, while geared towards human character control, can be quickly modified to meet any AI need.

- Full & seamless support for multi-channel surround sound systems (up to 7.1) through the OpenAL sound library.

- Defacto-Standard full-world dynamics and physics as provided by The Newton Game Dynamics System.

Also releasing along with E3DPR1 is our first real gameplay demo. Entitled "Hijack," the demo gives you a Quake2-style kill'em'all mission to use as a testing bed for all of your Ebert3D project modifications.

And, before you ask, EbertSoft is now treating Ebert3D as its sole product and service. All on-site and labour services are now handled by my other business venture, DQ Internet Services.

Thanks for your time and interest in my projects!
